The imGoats project is happy to welcome Ramkumar Bendapudi to the research team as a Special Project Scientist, effective May 2011.
Ramkumar will be based in Udaipur, India and will work across the projects sites in two Indian states of Rajasthan and Jharkhand.
He will lead the project’s research activities in India in close collaboration with BAIF, our implementing partner in India, and will also work in close interaction with the imGoats team in Mozambique to develop research outputs across the two countries.
Ramkumar is an agricultural economist and has a PhD in Agriculture and Resource Economics from the West Virginia University.
He worked for the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and the Swiss Foundation for International Development and Cooperation, and has been a development consultant/advisor to governmental organizations and several non-governmental organizations in India including the Society for Promotion of Wasteland Development, Foundation of Ecological Security’s Rainfed Livestock Network, Watershed Development Trust, South Asia Pro-poor Livestock Policy Programme and Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Hence, he brings with him a strong network of development partners in India.
