The imGoats project hosts two key meetings this week in Mozambique and India. On 7 February 2012, the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and CARE Mozambique host the second imGoats national steering committee meeting in Maputo.
Participants include representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture at national and provincial level, the national agricultural research institute, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). ILRI will be represented by Birgit Boogaard, Saskia Hendrickx and Siboniso Moyo.
The meeting will discuss updates on the progress of project activities. Preliminary results from the baseline study and the value chain analysis will also be presented.
In addition, the second meeting of the national advisory committee meeting of the imGoats project in India takes place on 10-11 February 2012 in Udaipur.
Expected at this meeting are the Animal Husbandry Commissioner of the Government of India; directors of the Animal Husbandry Departments of the state governments of Rajasthan and Jharkhand; and the director of the Central Institute of Research on Goats.
There will also be participants from the International Goat Association, IFAD India, the South Asia Pro-Poor Livestock Policy Programme (SAPPLPP), Tata International, BAIF Development Research Foundation and some local partners. ILRI will be represented by Ranjitha Puskur, Ramkumar Bendapudi, Purvi Mehta and Padmakumar.
